|WAKO is a group of aquarium hobbyists dedicated to the breeding, maintenance and distribution of killifish. We are an affiliate club of the AKA American Killifish Association||Our meetings are free and open to the public. We invite you to join us in preserving the over 700 species of this beautiful group of freshwater fish known as Killifish.|
Greetings from us at WAKO
Welcome to the New Year! Time for setting new goals and reviewing previous success and oooopes.
Looking back, we want to thank all of the participants of our past Nov. Show and Auction. Because of your cooperation, 289 of the 322 Show entries were registered in advanced, which greatly helped speed things along the day of the Show.† Also a big THANK YOU goes out to the attendees who stepped in and helped with tasks since some of our key people were down with health issues. Several of those attendees were there for the first time but were more than willing to roll up their sleeves. It was noted by others how smoothly the Show ran due to so much cooperation. Of course another Thank You goes to the featured guest speaker, Ken Normandin, who made the trip from Florida with a treasure trove of Killifish and a few other fish. His talks on raising Rivulus as well as collecting them were very well received.
We also want to mention our newest sponsor AMAZONAS Magazine. The publication is truly outstanding both visually and in content; we appreciate their support!
As we were compiling our 2017 schedule, we once again found that if we had our 2017 Show the first weekend in Nov., we would have a scheduling conflict with The Aquatic Experience held near Chicago, IL. Provided that we are able to secure the hotel for the weekend prior (Oct.28-29), we hope to schedule our 37th annual Show & Auction at that time. Please check back for updates.

All the best, submitted by Gis Gasior
